Go out and catch Iron Man’s boots, 😉
Or change simply the colour, no costime is perfect at the first time, it’s all a question of evolution in fashion, – ask Karl Lagerfeld, grin 😉 😉
Me again, sorry, – I did interprete it that the arms would more spread away in the direction to us the viewers, so it would look like it looks now.
With a tele objektiv you get a effect like this, ask the photographer down in the right corner, maybe that’s his pic’. ??
First of all, this comic is awesome. I found a link at yafgc and have been reading it over the past 4 weeks. Your artwork is very good and I love the story so far. I was reminded of watchmen in the beginning but the characters and story are very different. Was it a source of inspiration though?
Anyway I wanted to point out two little typo’s I saw (since you are selling these in book form aswell I thought it would be importent).
Both in the first panel:
1- ‘We are living in wondrous times’. As opposed to ‘We are living wondrous times’.
2- ‘In times such as these, dramatic measures are called for’. As opposed to ‘In times such as these, dramatic measures are called for’ (there is no space between ‘these,’ and ‘dramatic’).
Good luck and I’m anxiously awaiting the next page.
Welcome aboard!
Actually Watchmen wasn’t much of an influence. (I didn’t start reading it until about a year before the movie came out) It is the first thing people think of though. But as you probably noticed after reading the comic, there’s nothing much in common except elderly superheroes.
Thanks for bringing those typo’s up. I’ve been trying to avoid typos, but… yeah…
The curse of self-publishing: No editor (they’re not as bad as people make them out to be) 😀
The thighs are a bit big … but when you add that white side coloring on top of a white background … at first glance he just looks like he has fat legs. Coloring the background (blue sky for instance) would have helped a lot IMHO.
Interesting costume: It seems to be designed to make him seem skinnier than his muscular body is. . .
I have to agree with Slo: The shoes just aren’t right. My reaction was: A superhero in ballet slippers?
Your concept looks like the moulded part of a pair of Chucks with a lace-free spandex top which blends into his tights. . . I’d suggest that you either give him a respectible set of boots, or make them a single color so they will more or less invisibly blend into his tights.
I’ve kind of “toned” the shoes down. I personally like the color scheme so I want to try and stick with the stripes (at his waist they go down the back of his legs and end at his shoes.)
But if it helps any… he has variant cotumes that he wears too. So there’s more fun on the way… 😀
Hmm, I prefered the old speed skater thighs. I also like the white under the arms as symbolic of his ability to fly. What I do find odd is the shading around his groin. Not that I spend lots of time looking at that, but he looks more like a she there. I noticed the white on the shoes, but I think it fits the flying bit of white under the arms. His shoes remind me of diving booties with a thick white sole.
Ah, but Lobias Fogcutter wears a cape, usually when going to the opera or a ball. After all, he’s a mage, sometimes you simply HAVE to bend to the demands of the crowd. Besides, maintaining that sort of folderol allows one to NOT be recognized as such while working in a snappy 3 piece tailored suit.
You going to toss in mages, or only the survivors of a massice nuclear accident therapy session?
Sir, you fail to indicate where the confusion lies. Prehaps A TAILORED 3 PIECE SUIT IS NOT KNOWN OF ON YOUR PLANET, OR POSSIBLY THERE ARE NO MAGES THERE. oR IS IT THAT YOU DO NOT KNOW OF CAPES? or posess no mythical tradition of what mages look like on your subcontinent? If you could but clarify your dilemma, perhaps I could grant some measure of aid. I am sure Lobias’ friend Dr Stephen Strange could assist, if he happens to be visiting your local subjective time/space reality matrix.
Pictures of Mr. Universe and Mr. Olympia winers are available on the internet. Some of the older ones are not quite so outragious. The pictures can be a good guide to both muscle and briefs. Interestingly, some have bigger thighs than you started with, plus the definition of different muscle groups. But, you are an artist with a vision.
Been reading for a while now, eagerly awaiting my Monday and Thursday fix 🙂
Crusader is looking pretty spiffy with the new retouching (hmmm… maybe he really does look like the first picture, but the government PR folks have released photo-shopped idealized pics to the press?).
I thought there was something a bit ‘off’ about Crusader too, so I checked out a few male body building sites (some of those guys are disturbing), and I think the problem might be the waist. Rock hard abs rippling through his outfit, but no definition to his waist; just a minor transition from thigh-hip-waist-ribs.
I loves me this comic! Also I like the shoes they remind me of the swimming slip on surfer type shoes from nike, and …yeah i bet it’s very hard to draw a man’s “Junk” area….Hands were very tough for me.
I think there is something off with the white “gloves” may be If you continued the crimson to encompass the tips of the fingers? I dunno but it makes me think dolphin or porpoise or some other two-toned marine mamal.
Oops mammal slipped past the visual spell check. I like how you resolved who’s law do these heroes obey…for now. 🙂 Anyway… are other countries going to announce heroes? Because I just want to see how many incorporate the countries flag design in the costume. Hero U.N. anyone?
😀 Not really, but I’m trying to stay away from that for fear of getting too political…
But like it or not we’ll see the realtionship with the arab countries at some time. Remeber the US isn’t the international big cheese it is/was in our world…
Besides… it’s a crusade against crime not religion. 😉
I really like that you incorporated the early WWII US Army Air Corps emblem into the costume instead of the current USAF one. Since I haven’t read ahead yet, I’m wondering what the significance of that is (is the USAAC still around, or was a deliberate choice to AVOID the “official” USAF roundel made? Either is possible, given that this world has a different history than our own).
I’ve actually learned a thing or two about our countrie’s armed forces while doing this series. I’ve gone over vasts amount of referance for uniforms and insignias etc.
The Air Corps became the Air Force in 41, but I’ll have to be honest and say that I’m not sure how much the insignia changed… or when.
Very Cool, I’m gald there’s not a cape…NO CAPES!
glad…oops
Oh there’ll be capes… but don’t worry, Archilbald hates them too so it’ll make for some interesting scenes.
He wearing bathroom slippers?
I guess I’m going to have to work on those… 😀
This was the concept for them: http://www.heroes-inc.net/images/crusader_shoe.JPG
Go out and catch Iron Man’s boots, 😉
Or change simply the colour, no costime is perfect at the first time, it’s all a question of evolution in fashion, – ask Karl Lagerfeld, grin 😉 😉
I dunno, somehow his anatomy seems wonky to me
Wonky? In what way?
the part where the torso becomes the upper legs seem out of proportion(as well as the upper legs themselves)
Me again, sorry, – I did interprete it that the arms would more spread away in the direction to us the viewers, so it would look like it looks now.

Xarin: Well the thighs are intentionally “speed skater thighs” I could maybe give him a lypo suction though…
Buntklecks: That photgrapher will have a cameo through the series. At some time someone calls him “Parker” 😀

Great comic so far!
Okay guys… reduced the thighs. 😀
the wonkyness has left the building
Yeah. I’m saving the the “speedskater thighs” for someone else…
They WILL return. Buahahahahaha!
His… “shoes”?
That’s the only thing i didn’t like until now, in the whole story.
And instead of changing it, you could make some characters make funny comments about it!
hehe 🙂
Maybe they call him “The Silver Slipper” 😉

Nice outfit! I used to try to draw superheroes but could never come up with any cool-looking ones….
Seems others have posted about the legs already. =p
…sorry, his shoes still looks a bit awkward for me.
Red, White and Blue. Stars and Stripes. I wonder which country this fellow comes from…
😀
Well, that’s pretty much the idea…
And he’s named as the first superhero, but that’s not netirely true. More on that to come.

Yeah. It’s hard to do groins without people getting offended about having… manly shapes there. But I agree it needs to be fixed (ouch)
Glad someone gets the shoes. 😀

Well France has there own. We’ll see them at some time. Theyr’e not so much “superheroes” though. More a homage to… well, you’ll see.
And other countries will start to have them. The U.K. uses “super terrorists” a lot in their rebellion against Germania.
Germania (not to be confused with Nazi germany, even though they won the war) will have some…
THE CRUSADER! . . .
and all the Muslims in your alternate world (if there are any) are automatically pissed off… but they probably hate America anyway there, too.
😀 Not really, but I’m trying to stay away from that for fear of getting too political…
