May I present Diana Adams A.K.A. Miss Masque. In the Heroes inc. universe she joined The Hero Project after the war.
After the U.S. pulled out of the war it found itself in great need of spies. Diana Adams was perfect material. With the added abilities she became one of the best. Now at age 93 she is still in fit shape thanks to The Hero Project and is assisting Archibald Masters and James Knapp at Heroes inc.
Just something for you guys to get you over the weekend. ![]()
Seeya Monday.
The WebComicPlanet Collective is having an Easter egg hunt!!In the pages of the archives of each member of the WebcomicPlanet Collective is an easter egg hidden. It’s either in the blogs or among the actual pages of the comic.
(image)
The winner is the one who finds either ALL or THE MOST easter eggs. The winner will receive a personal drawing from the artist of their choice from the Collective OR can be included in the pages of one of the webcomics.
The hunt startson the 12th (tommorow) and you can submit the site names and URLs of where the egg(s) are found to philip@frumph.net
Now that is cool, if I do say so myself.
So off you go to www.webcomicplanet.com for the official rules and a full list of all the members of the collective. (I think most of them are in the list at the left)
Have fun!!! ![]()

A bit late with this sketch I promised. There’s a lot going on. It is Easter after all ![]()
So… who is Father Lawrence? Lawrence has been mentioned a couple times during the Heroes inc story. Always when talking about bad things that happened. So what happened? What were the bad things?
Sorry, can’t say more than that.

When I work on Heroes inc, I listen to podcasts. Pretty much everything is comic book oriented. Around Comics, FanboyRadio, the guys over at Halfpixel etc. etc.
One of the new ones I’ve found, thanks to the Webcomicplanet Collective, is Geek Loves Nerd. James (the nerd) and Jenn (the geek) mostly talk about things concerning family and marriage, but with a … humoristic, nerdy and geeky twist. I find it very cool to know that there are others like this besides my wife and I
. At least from listening to their podcast, there’s a lot of familiar ground from my own family life.
It’s not just a podcast though… they also do a webcomic (Wed-Fri) and a blog. At the beginning a lot of it was aimed at us fanboy parents. (I’ve actually said this. ) But the strips have changed to more everyday, family oriented observations. Things that a lot of us have experienced. It has that “Yeah, I’ve been there…” humor.
Check it out at Geek Loves Nerd.
I’m starting up their latest podcast as I finish up some pages…
-Scott-
I installed one of the leading wordpress cache plugins and it trashed EVERTHING!!!! I’m re-building as we speak!
DAMN them!!!
EDIT: I’ve got all the pages back up. Still working on getting the blogposts and your comments back up.
UGH!!
EDIT: Okay I managed to retrieve a majority of your comments too. I looking for my blogs right now….
EDIT: Got the blogs back up. Working on the menu content…
Well, it’s come to this… I’m forced to reduce my updates to twice a week. Mon- Thur is the new update schedule. I hoping that this will ease the workload some so that when the next “issue” starts I’ll have a better buffer going and will be able to go back to the three times a week.
Only five more pages to the end of this “issue”
Cool! ![]()
Scotty Story just put up a really cool review of Heroes inc. at his webcomic site Johnny Saturn. You can see the original here.
I’ve copy/pasted the review below:
As you can imagine, Heroes Inc., by Scott Austin, is right down my alley. Gritty, tough-as-nails, no-nonsense superheroes is what I do, after all, and Heroes Inc. fits that description as well.
For a long time, Johnny Saturn was just about the only serious superhero comic on the web. Others had come and gone, and many webcomics with a superhero flavor came onto the scene, but that was the exception, not the rule. There were strips with super heroic elements, such as Side Chicks, Magellan, Mind Mistress, the Vanguard, and a few others, but each of these were mined from different parts of the genre. Then, Union of Heroes showed up, followed by Heroes Inc., and suddenly Johnny Saturn didn’t feel so alone.
In terms of writing, Heroes Inc. has the feel of a modern spy thriller, or perhaps a military thriller. The writing is tight, the characterization is compact, and the pace seems to be building to something big. The concept that immediately appealed to me is that of old superheroes being used as genetic donors for a new era of supers.
When it comes to art, there is no doubt that Scott Austin is a very talented illustrator, and that his vision is unique. The penciling is rock solid, and his figure work is beautiful. His inking is non-traditional, made up of thin, choppy lines and splashes of black, giving the art a grim, urban feel. Scott’s coloring is quite distinct, using a very desaturated palette, lots of grays, and blotchy, texture-full rendering. It’s not realism he’s interested in here, but the stylized reality of indeterminates and unknowns. If I had to boil down Scott’s artwork to one adjective, I would call it ‘edgy.’
Heroes Inc. characters are loosely derived from the Nedor characters, Golden Age superheroes that have fallen into the public domain. I first encountered versions of these characters in Alan Moore’s Terra Obscura series, but that was not to be the last. In the intervening years, we’ve seen them adapted by AC Comics, Dynamite Entertainment, Image, and others. Heroes Inc. is perhaps the most original adaptation of these characters yet.
In terms of narrative, Scott Austin is quite skilled, and his action is often paired with parallel captions. He makes good use of this technique, and he makes it make sense.
In summation, I wholeheartedly endorse Heroes Inc.
Very cool! It warms the old heart to read stuff like this.
Thanks, Scott!
Okay peeps… the forum is now up and running. HANGAR 358 is the name… why? Read the coming stories ![]()
There more than likely are a bunch of glitches in it, but have patience and I’ll fix them as they appear. There’s threads for the characters, storylines, other webcomics, reviews etc. etc.
You can discuss pretty much what you want. So go have fun. I’ll pop in a couple times a day to check up on things.
And there’ll be other “helpers” around. ![]()

Some of you might or might not know that I belong to the WebcomicPlanet Collective. I’d like to take this moment to point you to one of our members: Epic Fail.
Though it’s not a webcomic directly made for gamers, anyone who has sat around an RPG table will find themselves in familiar territory. A colorful cast of warriors, elves, dwarves, paladins and more take you through this Fantasy tale.
It updates weekly at Epic Fail.
Yup. Only two more pages of this Issue of Heroes inc. Then it’s on to the next one. Next issue we’ll be diving into more of the differences between this alternate reality and ours. The characters that have been showing up in the promos: Blue Feather, Lawrence and some others, will be making their debut. ( Well it really isn’t Blue Feathers debut, seeing how he had a cameo in the WWII pages.
)
But… not revealing too much here… sorry.
Hey!… I stumbled upon this the other day: Tales of the Living Legends they use the art of the Golden Age to tell new stories. It’s pretty interesting. Plus you get a chance to see the original American Crusader in action.
If you’re into the Golden Age check it out!
Well that’s it for now. I’m trying to do some changes to the look of the site this weekend (want to put an image up for the title of the blog…), but we’ll see if anything comes of it.
If not… seeya Monday when we’ll get a little better peek of the world of this alternate history… !
