Okay, first off, I know that the background in the previous page doesn’t match this one. I didn’t have time to do a cool (cliché too, I know) infirmary, so it was left pretty empty. This time I whipped up a real classic white tiled medical room, fully equipped with everything you need to patch up enhanced super humans.
For those of you who aren’t familiar with the term “woman in the fridge” it’s used when refering to stories where the hero’s wife/girlfriend is killed pretty much just so he has a reason to chase after the badguys. I’m sure you can think of quite a few movies that use this technique.
Other victims are pets. Usually a dog. Whenever you see that a hero has a pet dog you just know that the poor thing isn’t going to make it to the end of the film. I’m tempted to give one of my characters a dog just so I can keep him alive.
Anyways… Diana will be going off to Africa soon. We probably won’t see that until next issue. The flashbacks for that story will be Miss Masque’s origin story. It’s pretty far from the original, but cool just the same.

Whoa there! Backgrounds? I didn’t think you did backgrounds… I think I liked the last page better, the background here is almost too much, it’s distracting… But, the characters, especially the faces, are really good.
I think I like Diana when she’s angry =)
The art in panel 3 and 4 reminds me of Jean Van Hamme and William Vance’s XIII.
Yeah, on occassion I indulge myself with some backgrounds. I was flipping through a Frank Quitely book the other day… that guy is insane! He’s not the the only penciler who loves details. There’s tons of these guys and they’re INSANE!!
On the other hand, if I was getting paid by Marvel or DC I would take the time to do it too.
Looking at this page in the morning, I agree that black&white version is a bit distracting. I need to tone it down a bit. When it’s in color it’ll blend in nicely.
Ahm, sorry, may I suggest?
You could make the outlines of the background later in a lighter colour.
Then you still have the structure and a background in the background.
Ooops, sorry I didn’t read your comment correctly.
You are planning to do that!
I should start to learn english again.
Please kick me…
I imagine it’d be pretty funny if you did give one of the characters a dog and it did die….of old age.
I’m actually thinking about it.
Do it!! =)
Okay, readers, refresh!
I’ve toned the walls down some. Now the whole page tends to blend together, but that won’t be a problem once it’s colored.
I am enjoying reading this comic. It is different and fresh. Thanks for doing it.
Woooah, Mrs. Masters? Was not aware those two are married. Explains why she always seems grouchy towards him
And I don’t blame her
Yep. I first revealed that on… hang on… page 13 of issue 2.
She was originally Diana Adams and I’m not even sure that they even met in the orginal comics.
Oh Kyle Rayner and his dead girlfriends. Giving us such wonderful phrases.
THAT’S where that was from… forgot it was a Green Lantern thing…

LIIIIINK!!!
Now I can’t come up with a coherent comment.
Thanks for the link.
It’s quite eye-rolling to see that it still goes on in a lot of today’s comics. Kind of a sad lack of imagination…
For someone who has been married for some 50 odd years, Archie seems to have never learned the basics of being a husband. One of the big ones is to never tell her to stay home for her own safety.
Give the guy a little slack, his wife was almost kidnapped by two unknown factions. He got mad at the world and said something stupid without thinking. He’s not the first husband to do that.
Yeah, don’t you hate when that happens?
Somebody should do something about those crazy “futuristic pulp” guys. Their wife stealing schemes are becoming a menace.
But seriously, it’s like you said, we all get our undies in a bunch and act without thinking when it’s about someone close to us.
I also wanted to bring up the “fridge” thing and Diana’s attitude.
Hee hee hee… baaad move, Archie!!!
You could always give somebody a SuperDog – maybe Archie could engineer one as an apology (and some reassurance for him) for Diana? After all, I’m sure they had at least some animal experimentation. And a realistic, rather than nauseatingly cute, Super Dog would be interesting. Also a nice “Diana of the Hunt” reference.
lol, I have a retired greyound. Was just imagining it with the power of flight and (even more) super speed lol. And their ability to ignore distractions when focused on the lure – like owners, pain, cars….
I know a horse woman when I see one. Just don’t know what discipline. Probably games – barrels, poles and so forth. A seventy year old horse is not too much of a stretch……….
