I thought I’d start off the hiatus with this informative, fictional Newsweek cover. I think it falls it great with the story. Jack Knapp, being the PR guy that he is, The Crusader would be all over the media. We might get a page or two of the interview at sometime. That would be fun.
The cover also gives little snippets of what’s going on in the world. These things have been mentioned here and there throughout the story, but it’s kind of a small re-cap.
Monday will see the start of our guest artists.
Oh… don’t forget to check out my new webcomic. Remember that it’s a much quicker style than the stuff here at Heroes, inc. and that the site is still being worked on…

Human and Myths…
Oh, shame on you, you steal the ideas of your son Gabriel!
grin
Heroes Inc.
I think it’s time for a little history lesson, maybe a 10 minutes documentation from the History Channel.
Love the comic…you definitely have a brand new reader. Keep up the great stuff!!
All new readers are welcome
Lots of great stuff on the way!
So what about Johnson!!!! I Want to know what happened to Kennedy’s VP!
Like I said elsewhere on the site: I don’t plan on dwelling on some of the alternate history (political stuff etc.) I’ve brought up. It’s just there as “things happened this way” and the reader can theorize the rest
Some things will be touched on throughout the series clearing them up more. Like the Germania civil war and fall of the Nazi party.
That’s probably for the best, or you would have to create a giant “World History of Heroes Inc.” wiki.
But it’s still weird to see an American publication worry if the German invaders can hold on to occupied Britain. Guess I’m too used to this reality, where our government would send guys over to help the English Resistance with suitcases full of “Chemical X” or whatever super-serum you can think of.
The problem is that your thinking of WWII Nazi Germany. Think of how things are today (In OUR reality). We were sworn enemies in the 40′s, but 70 years later things have changed quite a bit.
Japan really got the shitty end of the stick at the end of WWII in OUR reality, yet look at the relationship between countries now.
Just because the USA was on the losing side (in the Heroes, inc reality) doesn’t mean that 70 years on, we would be still fighting Germany.
In OUR reality the US has pretty much stayed out of the whole IRA thing in the UK and Ireland. It’s the same thing in Heroes, inc with Germania and the “Free Britannia” resistance…
In the Heroes, inc reality the war has been over for close to 70 years. The map changed durinf the war and thats life. There was a “Cold War” of sorts after WWII during the late 50′s and early 60′s, but that ended when the Nazi party came crumbling down in the 60′s. So far there has been peace fo a long time.
I think, after two books we are are very eager now to know what kind of world Heroes Inc. is.
One fine thing was the pages with some news, at TV or radio or at the huckleberry, – book one.
Maybe you should give us some more tiny parts of this mosaic, the headlines of old newspapers in the garbage can, a loud radio from a taxi driver, (if there is no music from india on their iPod). or phrases like, ahm, “You are talking like german southern state rebel.” (Ooh, these indomitable bavarians)
Yeah, I liked those “news” pages. It would be really cool if I had time to do a wiki page for the Heroes, inc reality/history, but time…
There’ll be more Huckleberry news throught the series.
Two things,
1. Scott Story, renaissance man. Not only does he co-author and do the art for Johnny Saturn, he also leads a secret double life as an award winning contributor to many national publications.
2. A few pages ago, when Archie was flying into New New York on the solar powered blimp, you said that was because Gore won the 2000 election. Wouldn’t, given the way WWII turned out, it be more realistic to say that it was a necessity due to limited resources? I am assuming that Japan was the one who nuked the west coast, so then we would have initially lost access to the oil and mineral riches of the Pacific. And the isolationist stance would have further limited our access to resources.
Many of the conveniences we take for granted today, such as cheap gas and plentiful electricity are products of the virtually unlimited access to natural resources from around the world we enjoyed as a result of our victory in WWII. Since Heroes Inc. America lost, they would have had to develop more efficient and sustainable technologies far earlier in their history.
1. A friendly nod to a fellow webcomicer. ,-)
2. Once again the main reason I had Gore as president was that the original script was written during the time that Bush was still President. So that told people right away we’re dealing with an alernate reality. Besides Bush being so unpopular over here in Europe it was fun to do. No really deep political agenda there…
You have a good point with situation in the years after the war though.
And many might say that after losing the war, closing it’s borders and lining the borders with Sentries, that the US WOULD be more aggressive towards foreign countries. Bush might have been voted in anyway… It’s all theory when you com down to it.
Oh.. . I had what happened to the east and west coast of the US up in the ABOUT section at one time. I took it down though because it was a bit of a spoiler. Let’s just say that Japan had their part in the destruction.
